Ian secured a total of 482 marks out of 500 with 96 marks in English, 96 marks in Physics, 95 marks in Chemistry, 98 marks in Maths and 98 marks in Computer Science. With an aim to become an IITian, Jem is preparing to crack JEE Advance. Check out some interesting excerpts from the interview below:

Q:   How many subjects should be included while calculating class 12th CBSE board percentage?

A:
In aggregate, all five subjects' marks are calculated. If you want admission in a particular field in a particular college then maybe they will check your score in 4 subjects (English + 3 Subjects of Commerce or Science). Also, if you have Physical Education and some good awards(State or National) with you then you can be admitted through Sports Quota based on your performance in Sports. All the best.

Q:   Will I clear the CBSE board exams 2025 if I obtain 33 percent in theory but not in practicals separately?

A:

No. It is necessary that you score a minimum of 33 percent in practical and theory exams separately. In case you're unable to score the minimum marks either in theory or practicals even when the total aggregate is 33 percent, you won't be considered pass.

Q: Congratulations on your result! How was your reaction after seeing the results? Did you score what you expected?

A: I was nervous as well as excited right before checking the results. I was happy to see my hard work bearing fruits, even though I expected to see a higher score.

Q: Please tell us something about your family background.

A: We are basically from Kerala, settled in Bangalore. My father works in the IT industry. My mother is a homemaker.

Q: Please tell me about your stream, Did you choose this stream by choice? How much have you score?

A: After 10th, I opted for the science stream and studied the subject combination of PCMC. Yes, I opted for this stream because of my genuine interest.

Q: What was your strategy to score above 95%?

A: The strategy is simple. Ensure you give complete attention to your subject when you sit to study. Focus more on the weak topics and practice them frequently. Never skip any topic. Attempt at least three previous year question papers to know the pattern.

Q: Did you take any online or offline coaching?

A: Yes, I took offline coaching for entrance exams. I did not take any coaching, especially for board exams.

Q: Who encouraged you the most in this journey?

A: My parents played a vital role in this journey and my success. They encouraged me to prepare for the exams through their constant support and motivation.

Q: What was your routine during CBSE board exam preparation?

A: Every day I set apart at least one hour for board preparation. Around a month before the boards, I dedicated the entire time to board preparation. My daily routine began at 5 am. I studied for at least 12 hours a day.

Q: What are your future plans? Which career path are you aiming?

A: I wish to pursue Computer Science in the BTech course. I aim to get into one of the top IITs in Computer Science.

Q: What entrance exams you are targeting?

A: The main goal is to crack JEE Advanced, now that I am eligible for it. Along with it, I plan to attempt other exams such as KCET, VITEEE, BITSAT, ComedK, etc.

Q: Are you well prepared for JEE and other entrance exams you are aiming for?

A: Yes, I believe my preparation is going well. I have been solving multiple worksheets and attempting many mocks to improve my chances of cracking the exam.

Q: What are your expectations with JEE?

A: I expect to get a good rank, somewhere under 1000, that would enable me to pursue my field of interest, Computer Science.

Q: What all courses and Universities/Institutes are you targeting?

A: The main target is to crack JEE Advanced and get into one of the top IITs. The only course I'm targeting is Computer Science because of my genuine interest.

Q: Please share some tips for students prepping to appear in CBSE Board Exams 2024

A: The only tip is to stay focused, pay attention to your syllabus. Do at least one revision. Also, do at least the last three years' board question papers per subject to score well in CBSE board exams.
