CISCE also warned that it will take appropriate actions against such schools which 'act in contradiction' with the Council's earlier notice.

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) issued an official notice directing affiliated schools to allow students to make the choice between appearing for the remaining ICSE Board exams 2020 and ISC Board Exams 2020 or skip it. Addressing the respective schools, CISCE said, β€œChoice MUST be given to candidates to select options (i) or (ii) with regards to the pending subjects/papers of ICSE Board Exams 2020 and ISC Board Exams 2020, as provided in the circular/decision dates June 15, 2020.”

The Council, in the notice released on June 15, said that students will be given the choice to take the pending ICSE/ISC board exams or to skip the exams and get their final ICSE results 2020 and ISC results 2020 determined on the basis of internal assessment or pre-board exams. According to the revised ICSE Date Sheet 2020 and ISC Date Sheet 2020, the pending CISCE board exams are scheduled to be conducted in the month of July

The Council released the notice after receiving various complaints from students that some schools were not allowing students to exercise one or the other of the options.

The Council in the letter to the heads of the schools wrote, "It has come to the attention of the CISCE that candidates of some schools are being coerced into making a choice, much against their wishes. Some complaints have been received by the CISCE in this respect."

The Council asked schools to refrain from such practices and clarified that it is the candidate and/or their parents who get the liberty to select the options. Once the choices will be made by the students, the schools will then communicate the same in writing to the Council about students' options.

CISCE also warned that it will take appropriate actions against such schools which 'act in contradiction' with the Council's earlier notice.

Meanwhile, the Council also extended the date for submission of the choice of the option until 12 noon on June 24, 2020.

According to the revised ICSE Time Table 2020 and ISC Time Table 2020, CISCE will conduct remaining papers for ICSE (class 10) between July 2 and July 12, and for ISC (class 12) between July 1 and July 14, 2020.
