On Sunday, Karnataka's Primary and Secondary Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar informed that Class 10 students from the state would be offered a crash course for a week before the SSLC or Class 10 annual examination.

On Sunday, Karnataka's Primary and Secondary Education Minister S. Suresh Kumar informed that Class 10 students from the state would be offered a crash course for a week before the SSLC or Class 10 annual examination. Last week, he had informed that the school education department had decided to promote class 7 and 8 students without any exams in the wake of lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19. He also informed that once the lockdown is over, a decision regarding board exams -- class 10 or SSLC and class 12 (second PUC or Pre-University Certificate exam) -- will be taken after April 14.

He further informed that the class 9 students would be promoted based on formative and summative assessments during their class tests. There will be too much of a gap between classes conducted and the exam now. So, they have planned to have an evaluation of subjects for a week or so. This will help students review the subjects and be better prepared for the exam. The Karnataka SSLC exam was slated to take place between March 27 and April 9. More than eight lakh students had registered for the exam.

As a preventive measure for coronavirus pandemic, Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) postponed the SSLC examinations. As per a notice issued by the board, the exams scheduled from March 27 to April 9 have been deferred and the rescheduled exam dates would be declared later by the board. Karnataka has also deferred the Common Entrance Test for vocations courses, which was scheduled to take place on April 22 and April 23 in wake of the prevailing COVID-19 and lockdown.
