Organized by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), the program is designed to enhance teachers' skills in recognizing and developing the potential of exceptionally talented students.

The Delhi government has initiated a five-day training program aimed at identifying and nurturing gifted students within its schools. The training, named "Project Abhishikt," commenced at a government school in Kalkaji. Organized by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), the program is designed to enhance teachers' skills in recognizing and developing the potential of exceptionally talented students.

Focus Areas of the Project

Project Abhishikt is focused on several key areas:

- Identifying gifted learners

- Selecting and training educators to deliver a specialized curriculum

- Developing a curriculum tailored to the unique needs of gifted students

- Ensuring the effective implementation of this curriculum

SCERT Joint Director Nahar Singh explained, "The primary goal of the project is to bridge the gap between the current abilities of these students and their immense potential. We aim to provide specialized support and a well-developed curriculum to ensure their success."

Targeting Gifted Students in Classes 6 and 9

The project specifically targets students in Class 6 and Class 9 who exhibit exceptional abilities. According to officials, the initiative seeks to address the common issue where teachers often focus on students who struggle academically, potentially overlooking the needs of gifted learners. The program aims to tap into the untapped potential of these students and provide them with opportunities to excel further.

Training Program Overview

The first day of the training program was dedicated to "Introduction and Understanding Giftedness," providing teachers with foundational knowledge about identifying and nurturing gifted students. On Wednesday, the focus shifted to the inception of the project, setting the stage for the development of specialized educational strategies.

Collaborative Effort to Enhance Education

Project Abhishikt, launched by the Directorate of Education in collaboration with SCERT, is being implemented across 15 government schools. The initiative represents a significant step towards recognizing and developing the unique talents of students, ensuring that they receive the support and resources necessary to achieve their full potential.
