Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia has ordered the immediate closure of all the primary schools in Delhi amid the Coronavirus Outbreak. All the schools will be shut until March 31, 2020. Read to know more.

Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia has announced that all the primary schools in Delhi will be shut until March 31, 2020. The step has been taken as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) amongst the school children. "As a precautionary measure to prevent the possibility of spread of COVID-19 amongst our children, Delhi Government has directed immediate closure of all primary schools (Govt/ aided/ private/MCD/NDMC) till 31/3/20," the Deputy Chief Minister tweeted.
Reportedly, schools from Class 6 onwards will be closed after the examinations for the students are concluded.

As a precautionary measure, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also allowed the students to carry face masks and hand sanitisers along with them to the examination halls. COVID-19 virus has spread in various parts of India and Health ministry is taking every possible measure to cure the infected and to stop the rapid spread of the virus. In the wake of the increased number of Coronavirus cases in the country, especially Delhi, Hyderabad, and other parts of the country, CBSE has made this announcement. Not just the students but the staff members are also asked to used masks and sanitizers in the examination hall during Board exams to curb the spread of the virus.

The Board took the decision to allow masks and sanitizers in the examination hall during class 10th and 12th Board exams after the students and parents started enquiring about the same.  According to CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi, several parents and students reached out to CBSE asking them to allow preventive measures against coronavirus outbreak during CBSE Board Examination 2020.

Meanwhile, CBSE has asked schools to create awareness among students about preventive interventions such as respiratory etiquette, hand wash techniques, frequent use of sanitizer, and more. The Board has also shared that these measures will not only help to stop the spread of coronavirus but will also stop the spread of other communicable diseases. As it is evident that the spread of the COVID-19 virus is a human-to-human transmitting virus. Making adults as well as children aware of the preventive measures and precautionary steps has become the need of the hour.
