The official notice released by the Board states that it prefers kids to appear for the November-December ICSE, ISC tests at school.
ICSE Board Exams 2022: Class 10 and 12 students have got an option from the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) to write the first-semester ICSE and ISC exams either in school or at home. However, the official notice released by the Board states that it prefers kids to appear for the November-December tests at school. Irrespective of where the exam is taken, it will be app-based and online and students will get their MCQ question papers on their devices, where they will have to answer.
Explaining the kind of invigilation the schools must arrange, the circular, signed by council chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon further asked them to submit details of the smart devices that each candidate would use for the exam. “While the preference would be to take the examination at school with parents’ consent, it could also be taken from candidates’ homes,” Arathoon said.
Each school has been directed to arrange at least one invigilator for every 25 candidates and one buffer proctor per 50 candidates. At the most, three buffer invigilators need to be assigned per school. “Proctors are basically school teachers who have taught in the chalk-and-talk method all through. But the demands of the board exam are different and unless teachers are trained adequately, they will be prone to making mistakes,” said a school head told TOI.
For every 100 candidates, schools are asked to arrange one IT-support executive. On October 7, the council activated a link. On this link, schools are asked to share details of proctors, buffer proctors and IT support staff. The last date to upload the list is by October 12. According to the official circular, candidates can choose laptops, desktops, tablets or smartphones with a camera and a microphone to appear for exams. Schools have to mention the name of every registered candidate and the kind of device he or she would use. The details are needed to be uploaded by the schools by October 18.
