In the present examination system, the Board conducts supplementary exams for students who fail in one or two papers in Karnataka SSLC Exams and Karnataka 2nd PUC Exam. Experts believe this created more stress and anxiety in students. Due to this, students’ knowledge retention, meaningful learning and academic progress are being hampered. Keeping this in mind, the present system is being changed.
Karnataka SSLC, PUC Board Exam 2024: Karnataka education board is all set to remove the concept of supplementary exams for SSLC (Class 10) and PUC (Class 12). Instead, the Karnataka Board has decided to introduce ‘three annual examinations’ namely Exam 1, Exam 2 and Exam 3 for SSLC and PU board exams.
Under the revised module, students will get opportunity to improve their score by retaining the best marks scored in the first, second and third examinations, and provide better opportunities in the selection process for further study or employment.
Additionally, experts believe that by renaming the ‘supplementary exams’ as ‘exam 1, 2 or 3’, three opportunities can be provided to the students which will promote their overall performance and positive attitude.
The decision was also taken keeping in mind that students’ learning pace and style are different, and conducting exams 1, 2 and 3 can help them adapt to their learning pace and reduce the stress caused by time constraints.
