The Maharashtra government has decided to merge the International Education Board with the state secondary and higher education board.
The Maharashtra government has announced that it is planning to merge its secondary and higher education board with the International board.
This move of merging Maharashtra International Education Board (MIEB) with the state education board โ Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has been taken by the government in order to ensure that every child is given quality education. The statement was released by the Chief Ministerโs office which stated that the merger between the two boards aims at providing all students the best education.
The notification also stated that the government has taken this step so that there are no two examination boards. With this move, all schools that were affiliated to MIEB till now will be re-affiliated to the state education board.
On February 26, Varsha Gaikwad, school education minister had scrapped all International boards in the state.
The State Council for Education Research and Training (SCERT) will be preparing a curriculum that will be at par with the international standards, and are as per the new education policy, as stated in the release.
During Union Budget 2020, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that the new education policy will be announced soon under Aspirational India and it will aim towards more inflow of finance in order to attract talented teachers, build and innovate better labs. The new education policy will also be aimed towards enhancing skill-based education.
India stood at 35th rank on the overall index in 2019 which was based on โ policy, teaching, and overall socio-economic environment. India stood at the 40th position in 2018.
