With the damaged economic state of the country due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the state CM requested schools not to hike fees amid such difficult times. 

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on June 10 directed private schools in West Bengal not to hike fees this year owing to the critical economic situation due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. The contagious spread of the novel coronavirus led to the imposition of the nationwide lockdown in order to control the virus spread which severely affected the economy.
The West Bengal Chief Minister also indicated that closure of schools may be extended for a month beyond June 30. Sending children to school could lead to a rapid increase in the positive coronavirus cases in the state. There are a total of 2,87,157 COVID-19 cases in India. Out of the total, 9,328 positive coronavirus cases are in West Bengal. To control this number from increase and keep the children safe, the state decided to extend the closure of all the academic institutions.

Asking the schools not to increase the fees, Mamta Banerjee said, “It's my request to the private schools not to hike fees this year. This time the schools were closed. I urge you because people do not have money in their hands.”
She further added, "No doubt the students are affected in a way because the schools are closed. We decided to keep the schools closed till June 30, but I think it may continue in July as well.”
Schools and higher educational institutions in West Bengal are closed since March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in order to continue the teaching and learning process, academic institutions are asked to stay connected with the students via calls, SMS, video calls and impart education using television and the internet.

Meanwhile, due to the increasing COVID-19 cases, West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee announced the postponement of the WBCHSE Board Exam 2020. According to the revised WBCHSE Date Sheet 2020, the Higher secondary or Uccha Madhyamik examinations will now be conducted on July 2, 6 and 7. 

Also, the 10th board results for  West Bengal Board Class 10 Exams 2020 are delayed due to the coronavirus lockdown. According to the latest reports, West Bengal Madhyamik result 2020 is expected to be released by June-end or in July.
