The Department of School Education & Literacy, in collaboration with AIFF and FIFA, has kicked off the Football for Schools (F4S) program across India. Under this programme, on January 30, 2024, with an aim to fuel the passion for football among students, 5555 footballs were distributed in 845 schools of 33 districts in Maharashtra.

Under this programme, on January 30, 2024, with an aim to fuel the passion for football among students, 5555 footballs were distributed in 845 schools of 33 districts in Maharashtra.

According to the official post shared by the Ministry of Education, the balls were distributed from Nodal district JNV in the presence of dignitaries from the Socio-Educational field and eminent sports persons. Symbolic football matches using FIFA Football were also organized by the Nodal Centre.

Ministry for Education, All India Football Federation and FIFA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The pact was signed with an broadbase football across various schools in the country through the Football for Schools programme. The MoU was signed between FIFA, Education Ministry, and the AIFF to introduce the Football for Schools programme to India, which will see the game of football being propagated to a large number of schools across the country.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union MoS for Youth Affairs and Sports Nisith Pramanik, Minister for School Education, Govt of Maharashtra, Deepak Kesarkar, AIFF chief Kalyan Chaubey, AIFF secretary general Dr Shaji Prabhakaran, FIFA Director of Football for Schools Fatimata, and the members of the AIFF Executive Committee, State Association representatives, and Technical Committee were present at the occasion.
