NIOS 10th, 12th exams 2020 cancelled; assessment scheme released!

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has postponed all its practical examinations, scheduled between July 2 and July 10, 2020, due to the rising Coronavirus cases in the nation. The same was informed through an official notification by NIOS. While, the Board has taken the decision on NIOS 10th and NIOS 12th practical examinations, it is yet to take a decision on the NIOS examinations 2020 (theory), which are to be held from July 17 to August 13. A senior official from the centre said that a decision to conduct the NIOS exams rests with the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.

“Till then exams are on and wherever centres are remotely located from learner’s place, the learners can apply for the exam centre change through e-services,” said a NIOS official.

As per the revised NIOS 10th date sheet, the NIOS 10th examinations will begin from July 17, 2020, with Hindustani Music and conclude on August 11 with Emplyobility Skills and Carnatic Sangeet subjects. While, according to NIOS 12th date sheet 2020, the NIOS 12th examinations will begin from July 17 with Physics and History, and conclude with Tourism on August 13, 2020. The examinations for NIOS 10th and 12th will begin at 2:30 pm for all the subjects.

Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank released the NIOS 10th, 12th date sheets 2020 on Twitter on Sunday, May 31, 2020.

Meanwhile, CBSE has cancelled all its pending CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th examinations in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak in the nation. However, it plans to make CBSE 12th exams optional for the students who want to appear in it to improve their scores. The examinations will only be conducted whenever the situation is conducive. ICSE and ISC examinations have also been cancelled.
