Patna Schools To Remain Closed Till January 25 Amid Cold Conditions

Patna Schools Closing Updates: The Patna district magistrate ordered that all schools till class 8 will be shut for another two days till January 25, 2024 due to the prevailing cold conditions in the district. It includes private and government, pre-schools, anganwadi centres and coaching centres of Patna. Earlier, on January 22, 2024, Patna recorded a minimum temperature of 7.2 degrees celsius on Tuesday.

“Any violation of the order shall attract punishment under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code,” district magistrate (DM) Chandra Shekhar Singh said in his order issued. 

The director in his letter dated January 22, said that the DM did not take "permission from the Education department before ordering suspension of classes up to class 8". Terming the letter of the director secondary education as "contrary to rules" and "irrelevant, Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh advised the department to "seek legal opinion" about its missive. Singh shot off his reply on Monday, within hours of receipt of the letter from the director secondary education. 

Earlier, DM of Patna had announced the closure of all the schools up to classes 8th till January 20, 2024. Before that the schools in Patna were scheduled to remain closed till January 16, 2024, however it was extended till January 20.
