To allow people to participate in the festivities amid the Ram Mandir inauguration, various state governments have announced holiday or half day for schools and offices.
Ayodhya Ram Mandir Inauguration: Schools and offices across the country are either closed or have announced half day on January 22 on the occasion of Ayodhya Ram Mandir Inauguration, i.e. Ram Lalla ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony. To allow people to participate in the festivities amid the Ram Mandir inauguration, various state governments have announced holiday or half day for schools and offices.
Central Government Half-day Closure
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT), a mandatory half-day closure for central government establishments is announced for Monday, i.e. January 22. The order is applicable for central government offices, institutions, and industrial establishments throughout India and will be in effect until 2:30pm on January 22, on Ram Mandir Ayodhya Opening. The ministry of finance has also informed that the same order applies to public sector banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, and RRBs.
Legal fraternity urges judicial holiday
Bar Council of India Chairman, Manan Kumar Mishra, has requested Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud to declare a judicial holiday across all courts on January 22. This request is to ensure that the legal fraternity can also participate in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony.

Uttar Pradesh
Statewide holiday for all educational institutions has been announced in Uttar Pradesh by the state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Meanwhile, UP will also observe January 22 as Dry Day. The order stated that liquor shops would also remain shut in the state on Ram Mandir inauguration.
Assam
Assam government offices and educational institutions will get a half-holiday until 2:30pm on Ram Mandir Inauguration Day.
Madhya Pradesh
Announcing holiday in schools on January 22, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav posted on X, “Keeping in view the public sentiments, we have decided that January 22 will be a dry day in the state. All types of shops including liquor, and Bhang outlets will remain closed.”
Encouraging people to celebrate the Ram Mandir Inauguration like a festival, the Minister also declared a dry day in the state.
Goa
Public holiday has been declared in Goa for government employees on January 22.
Rajasthan
A half-day holiday is announced in Rajasthan in view of the consecration ceremony of Ram temple. Cabinet Minister Kanhaiya Lal Choudhary said that he has sent a request to the chief minister to change it to a full-day leave on January 22.
Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh schools and colleges will observe closure on January 22. “The whole world knows Siyaram. I salute you as much as I can. There will be a holiday in all government and non-government schools and colleges of Chhattisgarh on 22 January, the day of the consecration of Prabhu Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya,” Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai said in a social media post on X.
Haryana
Schools will remain closed in Haryana on Ram Lalla ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony. The Haryana government has also announced dry day on the occasion of the consecration ceremony.
Tripura
Tripura Government has announced that all state government offices and educational institutions in the state will remain closed until 2:30pm on January 22.
