Schools in Uttar Pradesh to Remain Closed Until January 15, 2025

Several schools in Uttar Pradesh have extended their winter holidays due to the cold wave. The district magistrate of Mathura and Agra, Shailendra Kumar Singh, has announced that schools for Classes 1 to 8 will remain closed until January 14, 2025. Schools in Lucknow have been directed to conduct online classes for students in Classes 9 to 12 as per the District Magistrate’s order. This move aims to ensure that older students continue their studies while keeping them safe from the harsh weather conditions.

Delhi Government Extends Winter Break until January 15, 2025

The Directorate of Education Delhi has extended the winter vacation for all government schools in the national capital until January 15, 2025. This decision was made to provide students a safe break during the ongoing cold wave. In addition to the extended vacation, the Directorate has announced that remedial classes will be held for students in Classes 9 to 12 for ten days during the extended winter break to ensure that the academic calendar remains on track.

Jammu and Kashmir Winter Vacation Extended Until February 28, 2025

In Jammu and Kashmir, schools in the valley and winter zone areas of the Jammu division have been given an extended winter break, which will run from December 10, 2024, to February 28, 2025. This long winter vacation was announced by Sakina Masood Itoo, the Minister for School Education, through a post on X (formerly Twitter). The winter zone areas of Jammu typically experience severe weather, making it difficult for schools to function effectively during these months.
