Punjab School Winter Vacation 2024 has been extended for students up to Class 5 at all schools until January 21. The decision is taken in the wake of severe cold conditions prevailing across the state.

The decision is taken in the wake of severe cold conditions prevailing across the state. Making the announcement on X, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said In view of harsh weather conditions and to ensure the safety of the students, the Punjab Government has announced holidays for all primary classes (government/aided/recognized and private schools) till January 20, 2024.

Meanwhile, the government has changed the school timings for senior classes. The government stated, “All the middle, high and senior secondary schools (government/aided/recognized and private) of the state will remain open regularly from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm from January 15, 2024.”

On January 7, the state government ordered the closure of all government, government-aided and private schools up to Class 10 until January 14. However, the schools were open for Classes 11 and 12.

Meanwhile, several parts in Uttar Pradesh including Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad have announced closure of Schools. The decision has been taken amid dense fog and chilling cold wave condition in the northern region.

According to the official order, in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, schools in Noida and Greater Noida have been closed till January 16 (Tuesday) for students from nursery to Class 8 due to cold weather conditions. However, classes will continue regularly for students from Class 9 to 12.

Meanwhile, school timings are changed for senior students. Timings for Class 9 to 12 will be from 10 am to 3 pm, and it will continue till January 20, according to officials.
