The decision to extend School Winter Vacation comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of students. Here’s a comprehensive list of districts in UP where schools for students up to Class 8 remain closed.

School Winter Vacation Extension: Amid the cold wave conditions sweeping through North India, several districts in Uttar Pradesh (UP) have extended winter vacations for school students up to Class 8. The decision comes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of students. Schools in various districts will remain closed for students up to Class 8, while higher classes are resuming as scheduled. For Moradabad and Rampur, the school timings for Classes 9 to 12 have been revised, with classes now running from 10 AM to 3 PM. Meanwhile, in Ghaziabad, the district magistrate, Indra Vikram Singh, has notified the extension of winter vacations for students in Classes 1 to 8. Schools in Ghaziabad will remain closed for these classes until January 18.

Schools Reopening in Major UP Cities

From January 15, schools in major districts such as Meerut, Mathura, Kanpur, Agra, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Amethi, Barabanki, Gorakhpur, and Ballia will reopen for all classes.

Telangana School Holidays for Makar Sankranti

In Telangana, the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has announced a holiday for all intermediate colleges nationwide in observance of Makar Sankranti. The holidays commenced on January 11 and will continue through January 16, with classes set to resume on January 17.

Jammu and Kashmir School Holidays

In Jammu and Kashmir, the School Education Department has declared extended winter holidays as follows:

  • Schools up to Class 5: Closed from December 10, 2024, to February 28, 2025.
  • Schools for Classes 6 to 12: Closed from December 16, 2024, to February 28, 2025.

Students are advised to stay updated by contacting their respective schools regarding the holiday schedule.
