Tamil Nadu Schools not to Shut amid H3N2 virus spread

Stating that H3N2 cases are not high and schools can't be closed, the Minister said that the incidence of H3N2 cases was not high in Tamil Nadu and rumours must not be spread.

Tamil Nadu Schools not shut amid H3N2 virus spread: Health Minister of Tamil Nadu, Ma Subramanian has announced the government’s decision not to shut schools in Tamil Nadu due to H3N2 virus. The minister announced that there will not be any holidays for students up to Class 9 in the state due to the H3N2 scare. The minister clarified the air when a reporter asked if Tamil Nadu will also close schools like Puducherry. Stating that H3N2 cases are not high, the Minister said that the incidence of H3N2 cases was not high in Tamil Nadu and rumours must not be spread.

Wear masks, isolate if suffering from influenza or fever

The Minister has urged people to wear masks and follow social distancing. He also said that people with fever and influenza must isolate themselves. According to IANS report, the minister also called upon the people to maintain COVID protocol in the state and said that rumours should not be spread about the incidence of the viral fever.

Tamil Nadu Health Department has directed the district administrations to closely monitor the increasing cases of fever in their respective districts.

Puducherry Schools closed due to rising cases of H3N2 virus

Puducherry schools has recently closed after the announcement made by the Puducherry Education Minister A Namassivayam. The minister said that the schools will be shut between March 16 and March 26, 2023, in lieu of the H3N2 virus spread. To resist the spread of flu, the government of the Union territory has decided the schools to remain shut.
