Uttarakhand NMMS Exam 2025: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has officially launched the registration process for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) on October 18, 2024. Eligible students can complete their application for the Uttarakhand NMMS 2025 through the official website, i.e. scert.uk.gov.in. The last date to submit the application form is November 6, 2024.
Uttarakhand NMMS exam Exam Schedule and Scholarship Details
The Uttarakhand NMMS exam is scheduled for December 23, 2024, and will be conducted in two sessions: the first session from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM and the second from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Each year, the SCERT conducts the NMMS exam to provide financial support to deserving students. A total of 1,00,000 scholarships are available nationwide, with 1,048 specifically allocated for students in Uttarakhand. Selected students in Classes 9 to 12 will receive a monthly scholarship of INR 1,000, which will be directly credited to their bank accounts via the Annual Payment Bridge System (APBS).
Eligibility Criteria for Uttarakhand NMMS 2025
Students interested in applying for the NMMS must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Must be enrolled as institutional learners in Class 8 at government schools (excluding central and residential schools), local body schools, or government-aided schools in Uttarakhand.
- Must have passed the Class 7 annual examination with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates).
- The annual income of the applicant's parents or guardians should not exceed INR 3,50,000.
Additional Scholarship Opportunities
In addition to the NMMS, SCERT will administer the Dr. Shivanand Nautiyal (SNSS) and State Merit Scholarship Scheme (SMSS) in Uttarakhand. Under the SNSS scheme, a total of 100 scholarships will be awarded—50 for the Garhwal division and 50 for the Kumaon division. Recipients of the SNSS will receive a monthly scholarship of INR 1,500 for ten months from Classes 9 to 12.
The SMSS will offer 475 scholarships, distributing five scholarships per development block, providing recipients with INR 1,000 per month for the same duration. Eligibility criteria for the SMSS include:
- Enrollment in Class 8 at government-run, local body, or government-aided schools in Uttarakhand.
- Passing the Class 7 annual examination with at least 50% marks (with a 10% relaxation for reserved category students).
Selection Process for NMMS and SMSS Scholarships
To qualify for the NMMS and SMSS scholarships, students will need to pass two written exams: the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Each exam will consist of 90 questions, each worth one mark. Candidates must achieve a minimum of 40% marks for the general category and 32% for SC/ST candidates in both papers to be eligible for the scholarship.
