West Bengal School Reopening: West Bengal government has decided to reopen schools with utmost safety. The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has issued the guidelines to conduct offline classes for students of Classes 9 to 12. According to the guidelines issued by the department, schools have been directed to conduct offline teaching sessions for Classes 10 and 12 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Whereas, for Classes 9 and 11, schools will conduct offline classes on Tuesday and Thursday.

WBBSE guidelines state that schools will conduct academic classes for 9 to 12 from 10:50 am to 4:30 pm from Monday to Friday in all districts except in schools situated in the hill sub-division of Darjeeling and Kalimpong district. The guidelines add that schools of the hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong may commence academic classes from 9:30 am to 3 pm from Monday to Friday.

Schools have also been asked to conduct awareness as well as feedback sessions for parents and students every Saturday, the Board informed. On November 16, the government reopened schools in the state after remaining shut for more than a year due to the ongoing pandemic situation. The schools in West Bengal were closed in March 2020.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Madhyamik (WBBSE) and Higher Secondary (WBCHSE) boards have also introduced a bridge course in schools from November 18. The course has been introduced with an aim to make up the learning gap that happened in the last two years. The course has been prepared by a panel of teachers to prepare the students appearing for the board examinations in 2022.
