GITAM University announces new Academic Advisory Board members

Ashok Misra, NASI, professor at IISC and former IIT Bombay director; Suranjan Das, vice-chancellor of Jadavpur University, and former VC of Calcutta University; and P Duraisamy, former University of Madras vice-chancellor are also members of the board.

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM), a deemed-to-be-university, has announced its new Academic Advisory Board. M Sri Bharat, president of GITAM University recently met with the members newly appointed. The university has campuses in Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

The new members in the board include Padma Bhushan awardee P Balaram, former director of Indian Institute of Science (IISc); Padma Bhushan awardee K Srinath Reddy, president of Public Health Foundation of India and former HOD Cardiology of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. Ashok Misra, NASI, professor at IISC and former IIT Bombay director; Suranjan Das, vice-chancellor of Jadavpur University, and former VC of Calcutta University; and P Duraisamy, former University of Madras vice-chancellor are also members of the board.

GITAM's Chancellor, Virander Chauhan chaired the advisory board which met for the second time at the Visakhapatnam campus. “The new Advisory Board with some of India’s eminent academicians, intellectuals, and institution-builders will review and guide GITAM’s academic and research strategies and trajectory,” the university said in a statement. “Members took stock and offered valuable inputs in the areas of faculty development, research funding, holistic development of students, academic innovations, and university governance,” it added.
