IIM Ahmedabad to get Arun Duggal ESG Centre for Research & Innovation

The establishment of the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund Ltd (NIIF) would be the first research chair in India in the field of environmental, social and governance (ESG).

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad is all set to get a Research and Innovation centre. According to official reports, the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund Ltd (NIIF) will establish the Arun Duggal ESG Centre for Research and Innovation at IIM Ahmedabad. The officials informed that the establishment would be the first research chair in India in the field of environmental, social and governance (ESG).

While talking about the setting up of the research and innovation centre, IIM-A director Errol D’Souza said the industry is realizing the importance of incorporating ESG in their operations. “The research chair will work towards structuring and crafting a strategic roadmap for policymakers, practitioners, and students at the institute to help plugin gaps in research and development in the area,” the professor said.

Sujoy Bose, MD and CEO of NIIF, said, “As India marches towards its net-zero goals, we believe the next leaders of industry will rise from a sound foundation of adopting best ESG practices.”

Under this research centre, the chair will carry out research on globally relevant ESG issues, engaging with industry to create long-term strategies and acting as a knowledge partner to governments in relation to policy formulation.

Meanwhile, IIM-A recently organized the Laterals Placement Process. According to the official press release, both National and International recruiters participated in the process. Paytm rolled out the highest offer, followed by industry’s top giants, such as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and American Express, Amazon, Atlassian, Flipkart, General Atlantic, Google, Infoedge, Jio, Kepler Cannon, Microsoft, Oracle, Oyo, among others. Many students got selected under IIM Ahmedabad lateral placement drive.

However, the IIM-A final placement process for the PGP Class of 2022 will begin on February 8, 2022.
