IIM Jammu hosts virtual event to mark ‘5 years of its journey’

Indian Institute of Management Jammu completed its five years of journey on August 22, 2021. During these five years, the management institute managed to achieve many milestones, one of them being setting up the transit campus and the construction of the 200-acre permanent campus in full swing. In order to mark this event, IIM Jammu organised “Celebration of the Five Years Journey of IIM Jammu”, on August 22, 2021, at 11 am. Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, IIM Jammu decided to conduct the celebration via virtual mode starting with the lighting of the lamp, followed by the Saraswati Vandana by the 2nd year students of management institute. The audience was addressed by Professor BS Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu. The professor talked about the “Five Year Journey of IIM Jammu”. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), GoI, was the Guest of Honour of the program. On this occasion, Shriram Dandekar, Former Chairman, BoG, IIM Jammu, also shared his pearl of wisdom with the students. The presidential address was delivered by the current Chairman, Dr. Milind Kamble, BoG, IIM Jammu. The audience also got a walkthrough of the proposed campus.

The celebration was commenced with three insightful panel discussions. Panel 1 discussion revolved around the topic “Strengthening collaboration for academic excellence”, chaired by Ms. Anita Bhogle, BoG Member, IIM Jammu.

Panel 2 discussion chaired by Dr. Shalini Lal, BoG Member, IIM Jammu focused on “Encouraging industry and alumni engagement.”

The 3rd-panel discussion was on “Creating social impact and governance”, chaired by Ms. Jaya Goyal, Former BoG Member, IIM Jammu.

The enlightening discussions we followed by the Valedictory Session, in which Professor BS Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, again addressed the audience. CS Nagendra Rao, President, Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Shri Bishwarupa Basu, President, Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) and Lt Col ML Sharma (Retd.), Former CAO, IIM Jammu also delivered the address. Chief Guest, Dr Arun Mehta, Chief Secretary, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, gave the valedictory address.
