IIM Rohtak welcomes new PGP batch with 78% female students
New batch has 78 percent females and students from 24 states and union territories (UTs) of India. The number of female candidates has increased this year from last year which was 69 percent.
The Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (IIM Rohtak) welcomed its 14th batch of the post-graduate programme (PGP). IIM Rohtak organized an induction ceremony on July 1 and 2, 2023. The 14th batch of IIM Rohtak's PGP programme has students from diverse backgrounds possessing achievements in academics as well as sports including national-level medalists in sports such as swimming and karate. According to the official statement, new batch has 78 percent females and students from 24 states and union territories (UTs) of India. The number of female candidates has increased this year from last year which was 69 percent.
The event was attended by Kamal Kishore, member secretary of the National Disaster Management Authority; Sameer, an international lyricist, and Guinness World Record; Syed Ata Hasnain a recipient of multiple awards from PVSM, UVSM, UYSM, etc. The ceremony was presided over by Dheeraj Sharma, chairperson of IIM Rohtak.
Kishore introduced the concept of “rooted cosmopolitanism” and explained the role of management with many examples and how mismanagement can lead to natural hazards to natural disasters. “There is a need to go beyond corporate social responsibility and create socially responsible corporate.” added the secretary. Sameer said,” The seeds of current success are sown in the habits of childhood”. He encouraged students to focus on work and follow their passion with a positive attitude.
Syed Ata Hasnain discussed national security and how it encompasses poverty alleviation, energy security, technological excellence, and food security. The second day of the induction featured three-panel discussions. The first panel discussed "Understanding Consumption Behavior in Achieving a $5 Trillion Economy." They discussed how consumer preferences in India are growing and the role of continuous learning was also discussed.
The second panel had law enforcement and income tax officers. Discussions were done on the importance of the rule of law in fostering sustained economic growth. India's rule-governed system and independent judiciary were some of the other topics of discussion. The third panel comprised retired generals and discussed "Leadership Lessons from the Military." They discussed the leadership qualities and traditions practiced at the Indian Military Academy. Gautam Sen, a professor from the London School of Economics gave a presentation in the end and highlighted the significance of narratives in shaping the destiny of countries and individuals and focused on ideology, ideas and facts, and effective advertising.
