CBSE 12th Chemistry Exam 2022: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be conducting the CBSE Class 12 Chemistry exam Term 2 tomorrow, May 7. The paper will start at 10:30 am and will conclude at 12:30 pm. As per the CBSE term 2 Chemistry sample paper, the question paper will have three sections -- A, B, and C with 12 total questions. While the questions will have internal choices, some questions will be of two marks, three marks and five marks each. CBSE Class 12 Chemistry will be held for 35 marks.The exam will be conducted for 2 hours and the maximum marks will be 35.

- Electrochemistry: Redox reactions, EMF of a cell, standard electrode potential, Nernst equation and its application to chemical cells, Relation between Gibbs energy change and EMF of a cell, conductance in electrolytic solutions, specific and molar conductivity, variations of conductivity with concentration, Kohlrausch's Law, electrolysis.
- Chemical Kinetics: Rate of a reaction (Average and instantaneous), factors affecting rate of reaction: concentration, temperature, catalyst; order and molecularity of a reaction, rate law and specific rate constant, integrated rate equations and half-life (only for zero and first order reactions).
- Surface Chemistry: Adsorption - physisorption and chemisorption, factors affecting adsorption of gases on solids, colloidal state: distinction between true solutions, colloids and suspension; lyophilic, lyophobic, multi-molecular and macromolecular colloids; properties of colloids; Tyndall effect, Brownian movement, electrophoresis, coagulation.
- d-and f-Block Elements: General introduction, electronic configuration, occurrence and characteristics of transition metals, general trends in properties of the first row transition metals β metallic character, ionization enthalpy, oxidation states, ionic radii, colour, catalytic property, magnetic properties, interstitial compounds, alloy formation. Lanthanoids - Electronic configuration, oxidation states and lanthanoid contraction and its consequences.
- Coordination Compounds: Coordination compounds - Introduction, ligands, coordination number, colour, magnetic properties and shapes, IUPAC nomenclature of mononuclear coordination compounds. Bonding, Werner's theory, VBT, and CFT.
- Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids: Aldehydes and Ketones: Nomenclature, nature of carbonyl group, methods of preparation, physical and chemical properties, mechanism of nucleophilic addition, reactivity of alpha hydrogen in aldehydes, uses.
- Carboxylic Acids: Nomenclature, acidic nature, methods of preparation, physical and chemical properties; uses.
- Amines: Amines: Nomenclature, classification, structure, methods of preparation, physical and chemical properties, uses, identification of primary, secondary and tertiary amines. PRACTICALS Term II: At the end of Term II, a 15-mark Practical would be conducted under the supervision of Board appointed external examiners. This would contribute to the overall practical marks for the subject
CBSE Class 12 Chemistry: Exam Pattern
- There are 12 questions in this question paper with internal choice.
- Section A - Question number 1 to 3 are very short answer questions carrying 2 marks each.
- Section B - Question number 4 to 11 are short answer questions carrying 3 marks each
- Section C - Question number 12 is case-based question carrying 5 marks.
- All questions are compulsory.
- Use of log tables and calculators is not allowed
