The national-level Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2022 will be conducted on May 8, 2022. Candidates can ace the exam without coaching by following these tips.
A common trend among many CLAT aspirants is to get enrolled at a coaching center and prepare for the exam. While there is no definite right and wrong about taking assistance from a coaching center, it is however wrong to assume that one canโt prepare for and get a good rank in CLAT 2022 without coaching. In fact, success in CLAT 2022 will ultimately boil down to how hard and smart the candidate is preparing for the exam.
In this news article, the candidate can read the advantages of preparing for the CLAT 2022 without coaching and why coaching is not always the best option.
The argument against coaching
- Focuses more on ready-made notes - Most of the coaching institutes will hand the candidate a few notes that they are expected to mug up and practice to get a good rank in the CLAT 2022 exam. This formula is a recipe for disaster unless the candidate also reads textbooks; yes it does in the case of a few candidates, but they fall in the exception area.
- Candidates get a limited knowledge base - Also, if the candidate keeps reading these notes, their knowledge base will shrink and if a question is even a bit unorthodox, they tend to struggle.
- No diversity in study material - Another point is the study material offered by coaching institutes is formulaic and so they tend to straitjacket candidates, which can be counterproductive for some candidates.
- Only a few candidates achieve success - There are many coaching institutes that will go on a publicity blitz on the success of a few odd candidates. But what about the other candidates, why did they fail? It is because many of these coaching institutes will spend a lionโs share of their energy on a few candidates and help them achieve success. More often than not, many students get neglected.
- Time-consuming - It is pretty obvious as for attending a coaching class, a candidate will end up commuting long distances.
Argument in favor of self-study at home to prepare for CLAT 2022
- No traveling involved - Candidates studying at home wonโt have to travel at all. So, they can spend this time in exam preparation, or even relaxation. This will keep candidates fresh and raring to go.
- Less hectic - With coaching out of the menu, the candidate will have enough time to plan their study schedule in a relaxed and thorough manner.
- Textbook-driven study is possible - Unlike the coaching institutes which mandate that candidates use the institute-provided notes, candidates preparing for CLAT at home can use a variety of study material. This brings diversity and the candidate can get through understanding of a topic. Remember the textbooks more or less covers various concepts in-depth, giving various examples
- The candidate develops analyzing skills - Self-study can be a great way to develop oneโs analysis skills. To develop these skills, not just read a topic, but take the pen and paper out and start practicing problems given at the end of the chapter or at the end of the book.
- Taking help of teachers and peers - Being out of the coaching milieu, the candidate is free to seek help from different groups of people to clear doubts and understand difficult concepts. But here one must be careful to make the selection of such people carefully.
