The All India OBC Students Association has once again demanded the implementation of OBC reservations for the Common Admission Law Test (CLAT) aspirants at National Law Universities (NLUs).

CLAT 2022: OBC students demand immediate implementation of OBC reservations in NLUs

The All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conduct a caste census to take inclusive policy decisions and make effective social welfare schemes.

The letter reads, "Caste Census will give empirical data to the government to give OBCs their share in the development process."

The association tweeted, "We demand pan-India #CasteCensus but not State-level Caste Census and provide OBC reservations according to our population. As the ball is still in Union Government, we request @narendramodi Ji to take an immediate decision and conduct Caste Census."

Another tweet of AIOBCSA reads, "No Caste Census, No Social Justice. We demand #ConductCasteCensus immediately and do justice to OBCs. West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan and many other states are not getting 27% OBC reservations in the Education domain. We need data."

AIOBCSA's other demands

The demands include implementation of OBC reservations in All India Quota of National Law Schools, implementation of 27% OBC reservations in admissions and recruitment, filling of vacant OBC, SC and ST faculty positions in all the Higher Education Institutions - IITs, NITs, IISERs, IIMs, Central Universities.

The association has also written to the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan regarding the violation of the faculty reservations in Higher Education Institutes and requested him to end all kinds of caste-based discrimination.

Other demands include increasing national fellowship for OBCs from 1000 to 5000, OBC research centres to study various social, educational, cultural, and political issues, OBC fee structure on par with SC/ST students in HEIs, reservations in the Prime Minister research fellowships, functional OBC/SC/ST cells in HEIs, and removal or rationalization of creamy layer.
