CM Yogi lays foundation stone of medical college in Sonbhadra
While launching several development projects worth over INR 500 crore, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has laid the foundation stone of a medical college in Sonbhadra district.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched as many as 79 development projects worth over INR 500 crore in the Sonbhadra district of the state. He also laid the foundation stone of a 500-bed medical college to be built at an expense of INR 300 crore.
While welcoming the Jan Vishwas Yatra in the district, he said, “Sonbhadra district is full of natural resources, but the previous government kept locals deprived of basic facilities. Before 2017, the district, which supplies electricity to the entire state, used to remain in darkness itself," as reported by Hindustan Times.
“This yatra has brought the gift of a medical college to Sonbhadra so that locals get quality treatment here. Foundation for a medical college has been laid and now poor people of the district will not have to go elsewhere to avail medical treatment,” he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated nine new medical colleges in the state in October this year. Moreover, he had unveiled various development projects in Gorakhpur on December 7, 2021, worth INR 9600 crore including an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), three high-standard laboratories set up by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) at the BRD Medical College and a fertiliser factory.
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar recently informed Rajya Sabha that NMC has approved 21 government medical colleges and 16 private medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh.
