Assam University has reopened its campus for physical classes from today for Research Scholars. The University has decided to reopen the campus for offline classes considering the decline of COVID-19 cases. Assam University has also opened for all teaching staff. However, no teaching staff will be allowed to work physically in the University during the normal working hours.
The total number of active COVID-19 cases in Assam at present is 6,207 cases. The death ratio due to COVID-19 is 0.97%. The number of people in the state who have received both doses of vaccine is 1,95,48,677 people.
Earlier, the Assam government had taken the decision to reopen the schools and colleges in the state from the first week of September. During a Cabinet meeting, the decision was taken to resume offline classes for final year PG, UG students, and students of class 12.
Assam University has decided to resume classes with strict COVID-19 guidelines. As per the official notification released by the varsity, bus facilities for both teachers and research scholars will be arranged by the Estate Section. The University has made it mandatory for those research scholars who would be attending administrative or academic departments to have completed both doses of vaccination. It should be noted that the vaccination certificate has to be proved before entering the University if asked for.
Further, employees should have completed at least a single dose of vaccine. The number of people in Assam who have completed a single dose of vaccine is 1,59,87,775 people. As per the official notice, those employees who have not taken a single dose of vaccination yet, are requested to take a leave and get vaccinated with at least a single dose.
