The higher education department is now inviting applications from eligible candidates for the vice-chancellor (VC)’s post of Berhampur University. Govind J Chakrapani is presently the vice-chancellor and he will soon be returning to his parent institution; i.e. IIT Roorkee. He will be relieved from his post on April 30, a few months before the end of a three-year tenure. Interested candidates can apply on or before March 7.
Chakrapani, who was appointed in September 2019, had requested governor Ganeshi Lal, chancellor of state public universities, for the relief. As per the advertisement, the applicant for the VC post should be a distinguished academician with proven academic and administrative excellence and a well-rounded personality with a minimum of 10 years of experience as a professor in a university system or equivalent position in a reputed research/academic organisation. It must be noted that to be eligible to apply for the post, they should be below 63 as of May 1.
The applicants are required to apply in the prescribed application proforma through an email attachment to the higher education department's email address -hedsec.od@nic.in.
Along with this, one set of applications (hard copies), along with supporting documents, should also be sent to the department secretary via speed post only by the deadline. Candidates can download the application proforma from the websites of the department or that of Berhampur University. The tenure of the VC will be of four years from the date she/he assumes office or till she/he attains 67 years of age; whichever is earlier.
