The affiliated universities of ABVU are facing the same issue even after the number of applications for admission were received twice the seats available for UG and PG courses.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee University in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh concluded its admission process on Tuesday i.e. January 5, 2021. According to the official reports, 30 per cent of the seats are still vacant even after receiving applications twice the number of seats available in the ABVU-Bilaspur University and affiliated colleges. The affiliated universities of ABVU are facing the same issue even after the number of applications for admission were received twice the seats available for UG and PG courses.
Considering the ongoing pandemic situation, the university released the semester results late and was supposed to complete its admission process by December 31, 2020. Since the affiliated colleges submitted 8,000 vacant seats in UG and PG courses, the university extended its admission process until January 5, but to no avail.
The reports suggest, the University and its affiliated colleges received around 1.19 lakh applications for UG admissions and 48 thousand students applied for PG admissions in ABVU and affiliated colleges. Total 39,000 seats are allotted for UG programs and 20,000 seats for PG programs, and there are still 12 thousand seats vacant in UG after the second round of admission completes. All seats are filled in only Government Science College and JP Verma College.
The University's Education Department (UTD) offers certificate courses in Cyber Law, Yoga Science and GST as well. Applications for professional courses were received 3 times more than the seats available but only 5-10 students took the admission. Many students are opting for Central University and some have withdrawn admission due to the pandemic situation. According to the records only 13,192 students have taken admission in UG programs.
