On Thursday, the Chhattisgarh government announced holiday in schools and colleges. As a precautionary measure, all the schools and colleges will remain closed till March 31 considering the Coronavirus epidemic in several parts of the country. Nevertheless, exams will be conducted as per schedule in such educational institutes. To assess the readiness to avert any spread of the infection, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel presided over an emergency meeting. According to several health officials, no confirmed corona virus case has come into the light so far in Chhattisgarh. The chief minister ordered health department officials to frequently assess and check the preparations made to deal with any situation.

He ordered officials to spread awareness among people to remain cautious and evade joining mass programmes. Earlier, the Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) in Raipur district deferred its classes till March 18 as a preventive measure. Few of its students were found suffering from cough, cold and fever. According to a health official, after the development, samples of two HNLU students were sent for checking to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur.
