Coronavirus in India: Anna University to reschedule semester exams

Anna University announced that the end-semester examinations of April-May for affiliated colleges will be held after the end of the lockdown period.

Amid suspended classes and closed campuses due to the 21-day lockdown in the wake of the novel coronavirus, the Anna University on April 9, 2020, announced the postponement of its semester exams. According to the reports, the university stated that the end-semester examinations for affiliated colleges that were scheduled for the month of April and May will be conducted after the end of the lockdown period.

In an official notice, Anna University, a premier institution in Tamil Nadu said that the end-semester exams, including special examinations for students who have exhausted the maximum period of study, will be rescheduled for the affiliated institutions in view of the lockdown.

The Controller of Examinations of the varsity also stated that the authorities will publish a fresh schedule for the said examinations of April/May 2020 after the lockdown.

Anna University extended its closure for its affiliated colleges and all departments until April 14, 2020. The university took the decision regarding the extension of the closure in view of the 21-day nationwide lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 24. The lockdown period started from March 25 and will go on until April 14.

However, to prevent the loss of studies and continue the learning process, Anna University asked its lecturers and professors to give online classes. The university also encouraged the professors to look for different ways and options including WhatsApp to send notes, assignments, and other study material to help students continue their studies being at home. The researchers are also directed to work from home.
