CUET 2022 not required for admission to NEHU colleges: Education Minister

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 will not be required for admission to all the colleges that are affiliated with the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Meghalaya. "The exemption has been given for this academic year, considering the geographical conditions, far-flung locations, limited digital connectivity and infrastructure," the Education Minister mentioned in a letter to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma.

"The affiliated colleges of NEHU will continue with the existing practice for admission instead of CUET," the education minister said in the letter. It must be noted that the CUET 2022 has been implemented in all central universities in the country for admission to undergraduate courses. On April 25, the Meghalaya Chief Minister met the education minister, seeking exemption from CUET 2022 for Meghalaya colleges.

CUET 2022 exam registration process is currently underway. The last date for CUET registration has been extended to May 22, 2022. National Testing Agency (NTA) had recently extended the deadline for the CUET 2022 application submission date which was earlier May 6. Candidates can prepare for the exam by accessing the CUET mock test 2022 updated on the NTA website - nta.ac.in.

Meanwhile, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar has announced that until now nearly 10 lakh candidates have registered for CUET 2022. He also announced that more than 7 lakh applications have also been received for the CUET UG Entrance Exam 2022.

All those students who are interested to appear for the CUET 2022 can now visit the official website. Candidates are advised to assess their CUET preparation by solving the CUET 2022 mock test.
