Deen Dayal Upadhyay College in Delhi is reportedly facing a lack of funds and hence it has decided to work for 5 days a week only.
The reports are coming in that due to lack of funds and tussle with the Delhi government over the grants, the staff of the prestigious college of Delhi University - Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) college has decided to implement a five-day weekly timetable to save electricity and other operational costs.
As per a TOI report, the Delhi government has allegedly not released the funds to the college and has also not given the college electrical and maintenance grants.
DDU teachers have not received payment for the past two months
The Delhi government has not even paid the salaries of the teachers for the past two months. "It has been more than two years now that we have been facing this problem. Earlier, the government said once the governing body was constituted with its representatives, the problem of funds would be addressed, but still, the same problem is on," said a teacher.
The teachers added that they haven't received their salaries for the past 2 months.
A K Bhagi, DUTA president, said, “On Teachers’ Day, teaching and non-teaching staff members have performed their duties diligently without fail, but the Delhi government has failed continuously for the past few years in providing the salaries to these employees and has also failed to build the basic infrastructure for the students in these 12 colleges.”
