Gauhati University Admission 2023: Apply for PG, PhD courses

The online registration for the PG and PhD courses commenced at Gauhati University. The last date to apply for the PG courses is June 20, 2023, and for PhD courses, it is June 15, 2023. Read here for more details.

Admissions are open at Gauhati University for various PG and PhD courses. The examinations for both these categories will be held on July 2, 2023. However, the last date to apply for the postgraduate course is June 20, 2023, and for the PhD courses, it is June 15, 2023.

The centres for the entrance examination (PGET) for PG admissions are Guwahati, Barpeta, Shillong, Dhubri, Tezpur, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Diphu and Silchar. The PG courses available are Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Technology (MTech), MSc in Nursing, Master of Commerce (MCom), Masters in Medical Laboratory Science, Master of Tourism & Management (MTM), Master of Library and Information Science (MLISc), and LLM.

Admission into the Autumn Session of the PhD Programme Programme of Gauhati University for the academic session 2023-24 (August 2023 to July 2024) is a three-tier process including - The Central Application Process (CAP), GURET 2023, and Counseling. Completing the CAP DOES NOT guarantee admission into the PhD Programme.

All applicants, (If you are an International Student, please visit IRW the International Relations Wing), MUST go through the Central Application Process (CAP), irrespective of any fellowship they might have either through any scheme or any research project (see below for exemptions). The CAP will be facilitated through the official website with a dedicated Online Portal.
