Students of Ghaziabad college have alleged that they were not allowed to enter the college as they were wearing hijabs. The incident came to light after a video went viral showcasing the group of students protesting against the college management. A student of Ginni Devi Modi Girls PG College in Modinagar, Ghaziabad stated that the college authorities had denied entry and to attend the function organised on campus.

However, the college authorities dismissed the allegations and said that the girls were not allowed entry as they were not wearing the proper uniform. The students further alleged that their entry was restricted after the college principal saw them wearing hijabs.

While speaking to TOI, one of the students said, "We tried to talk to the principal, but she refused entry to us after she notices that we were wearing hijabs. She asked us to come in uniform, we were already in uniform."

In a statement, the college principal said that  "They are making it an issue of hijab, they were not in proper uniform, we didn't do anything wrong".

Students who were denied entry had come to attend the function in which 69 students were to be given digital tablets under a state government scheme. However, the entry of hijab-clad students was allegedly denied. Students protested on the Meerut Road and raised the slogans against the management.

Ghaziabad police has however said that no complaint has been filed so far regarding the incident, however, an investigation on the same is currently underway.
