GNDU to offer more vocational dual degree courses with foreign universities

On the occasion of the syndicate meeting of GNDU, Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu gave his presidential remarks. He also informed that to encourage reading habits among students, Bhai Gurdas Library would be armed with digital amenities.

Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) is likely to commence more vocational dual degree programmes with foreign varsities. On the occasion of the syndicate meeting of GNDU, Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu gave his presidential remarks. He also informed that to encourage reading habits among students, Bhai Gurdas Library would be armed with digital amenities. Apart from e-journals, it would have soft copies of books and their online subscription. Talking about the agendas of the meeting, they primarily included study leave, new courses, new appointments, and re-appointments.

Besides, the university is likely to issue identity cards to its alumni after getting one-time life membership fee. After that, they would be able to avail a number of facilities of the university such as using swimming pool, gym and staying on the campus.

From this academic session, the syndicate also gave permission to reserve endorsed seats in postgraduate courses for Indian Army officers on study leave. It also permitted the appointment of Colonel Amarbir Singh as a new security officer of the GNDU. Several foreign students took admission to some courses last year. The number of students is likely to go up this year. The university would build a state-of-art hostel as per the international standards for the convenience of those foreign students. A number of senior students would be given the training to address the language problem. Sufficient arrangements would be made for their food as well.

Cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, who is also a member of the Syndicate, was present at the meeting. He discussed various issues and gave his suggestions regarding new courses.
