Gujarat University has postponed the final examination that was scheduled to be held from August 21, 2020. The offline exam has also been postponed for only courses that come under the University Grants Commission (UGC) and not for courses that are governed by councils like the Medical and Dental Council. The final exams for these courses will be conducted as per the schedule.
The postponement of the exams created a lot of chaos at the varsity headquarters. Later, the Varsity Registrar Piyush Patel clarified to the deans, the courses for which the exams have been postponed. Students can, however, register for the online examination on or before August 16.
While speaking to a media house, Vice-Chancellor Himanshu Pandya said, “The offline exam has been postponed keeping in mind Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines of keeping educational campuses closed till August 31.”

Gujarat University had released the exam dates for Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in July. The exams were scheduled to be conducted in two phases, the first beginning on August 21 and the second on August 31, 2020. The varsity administration had informed earlier that it will be conducting the exams in both online and offline modes.
The offline mode will be applicable to all local students while the online mode will be usable by those students who are away from the city where the campus is located. This year around 70,000 students will appear for final year exams for various courses.
