HNB Garhwal University, Uttarakhand postpones UG/PG final semester exams

Earlier, according to the dates released, the university was scheduled to conduct the final semester undergraduate and postgraduate examinations from September 10, 2020. 

Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University postponed its undergraduate and postgraduate examination for the final semester students. According to the official statement released by HNBGU, the UG and PG final year exams are now postponed and revised dates for the examinations are expected soon. Earlier, according to the dates released, the university was scheduled to conduct the final semester undergraduate and postgraduate examinations from September 10, 2020. 

The official statement regarding the postponement of the final semester examinations until further notice was issued by University Vice-Chancellor Professor NS Panwar. According to the notification, the revised schedule of the final semester examinations will be announced at least 15 days prior to the commencement of the final semester examinations.

Earlier, the University Grants Commission issued the revised guidelines for colleges and universities across the country to conduct the final semester undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The UGC stated that the universities and colleges have time until September 30, 2020, to complete the examinations.

The UGC also instructed that the colleges and universities can opt blended method to conduct the final semester undergraduate and postgraduate exams that is either in the online, offline, or in both the modes according to the decision of the individual institution. 

While many of the universities conducted or are in the process of conducting the final semester examinations for the students in the online mode, some of the state governments and universities demanded cancellation of the final semester exams such as the intermediate semesters and promote the children based on the internal marks secured. The request is made considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown in the country.
