IIT Palakkad to offer dual degree programme for BTech students, check details

Students can now get a BTech degree as well as an MTech degree from IIT Palakkad in five years. BTech students who are interested to pursue this course can apply to the MTech stream in the third year of BTech.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad has announced that it will offer a dual degree programme. Students can now get a BTech degree as well as an MTech degree from IIT Palakkad in five years. BTech students who are interested to pursue this course can apply to the MTech stream in the third year of BTech. 

"This unique course will help the candidates grow by understanding the changes in the profession," IIT Palakkad, Director, Professor PB Sunil Kumar said.

This announcement has brought major relief to many students as with this scheme students can earn credits through research projects instead of classroom sessions of the elective papers.

IIT Palakkad is a public autonomous engineering and research institute located in Palakkad, Kerala. It is one of the five new IITs that was proposed in the Union Budget 2014. The campus was inaugurated on August 3, 2015 at the temporary campus site located inside the Ahalia Integrated Campus, Palakkad. In February 2019, academic activities commenced in the Nila campus in Kanjikode. 

Meanwhile, IIT Palakkad has launched online courses in Cyber Security course and cloud computing. The course has been launched in collaboration with an ed-tech platform, Jaro Education. The course has been launched with an aim to fulfill the increasing demand for professionals in the field of cloud computing and cyber security, claims the edtech company. The last date to register for IIT Palakkad online courses in Cyber Security course and cloud computing is July 2, 2023.

The professionals taking the course will have live online classes as part of their course. Interested candidates can apply at the official website of Jaro Education.
