The Delhi University's Indraprastha College for Women (IPCW) has submitted the statement of over 225 students to Delhi Police in connection to the alleged harassment by men who scaled the boundary wall of the college during the annual fest.
"Students who wished to give statements were called and their statements were recorded by the college admin," said police. The police further stated that the college principal has compiled the 225 complaints/grievances and had sent them.
On Wednesday, police bound down five students of Delhi University and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University — three from Motilal Nehru College, one from Sri Venkateswara College and one from GGSIPU — in connection with the case. The police questioned the students and later released them.
The students have been told to remain present before the investigating officer (IO) whenever required and can’t leave the city or the country without informing the officer. In its first response to the incident on Monday, the college administration released a statement seeking help from students to identify those who are responsible.
Also, the administration asked that complaints about misbehaviour be made to the committee along with supporting documentation from students and other campus stakeholders. “The complaints, photos and videos are requested to be submitted with the administrative officer of the college… the management of the college believes that all those individuals who are responsible for this unfortunate incident should be punished by the law-enforcing agency and for that purpose, all information provided to the college will be forwarded to the law-enforcing agencies,” the notification said.
