The Jawaharlal Nehru University has extended the winter semester registrations till January 15, as reported on Sunday (January 12, 2020). This is the second such instance as earlier the registration date was extended from January 5 to 12.
In the released circular, the JNU has announced the extension of winter semester registrations up to January 15, without any fine. The varsity had earlier announced the extension from January 5 to 12 after the information and communication service systems of the University had been severely damaged due to the protests by the students over the hostel fee hike.
Meanwhile, as per the latest development in the University, the students may not have to pay the service or utility charges as part of the hostel fee for the forthcoming semester. However, they will be required to pay room rent and additional medical fees. The new fee would include the room rent of Rs 3,600 per semester for all the students except for the BPL category students, who have to pay Rs 1,800 per semester.
