JNU recognises MA in Audit & Accounts Programme at CAG's Training Centre

Under this collaboration, the university has given recognition to a new programme of MA in Audit and Accounts. The programme will be offered by the CAG's premier training institute, National Academy for Audit and Accounts, Shimla (NAAA).

The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India signed a pact on Tuesday, i.e. March 23, 2021. According to the reports, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) is signed in order to initiate their new association in an academic activity. Under this collaboration, the university has given recognition to a new programme of MA in Audit and Accounts. Reports suggest that the programme will be offered by the CAG's premier training institute, National Academy for Audit and Accounts, Shimla (NAAA).

Last year, the NAAA had applied to the Jawaharlal Nehru University for recognising this course offered to the CAG's newly-inducted officers during their mandatory two-year training, which the university examined and approved through its statutory bodies, Academic Council and Executive Council.

Talking about the collaboration, the University Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar in a statement said, The officers of the CAG will henceforth be the graduates of JNU, and JNU will extend all administrative and academic assistance to the NAAA in bringing richness and rigour to this new graduate programme."

He further highlighted the need for knowledge generation for the overall development of the country and suggested for incorporation of research component in course curriculum of the NAAA.

Meanwhile, JNU has reopened its campus for final year research students in a phased manner. NU on February 28 stated that “all final-year MPhil students who require access to the premises for submitting their dissertation on time will be allowed entry from March 8.” Apart from reopening the premises for MPhil final-year students, the university also permitted Bachelors and Masters students under the PWD category to enter the campus if they require access to laboratories and other facilities.
