Mahatma Gandhi Central University to promote all Undergraduate, Postgraduate students without exams

The decision to promote the students to the next classes has been made considering the fact that examinations are not feasible amid the recent surge in active COVID-19 cases.

The Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU) has announced that it will promote all the students of first and second-year undergraduate programmes and first-year postgraduate students without exams. The decision to promote the students to the next classes has been made considering the fact that examinations are not feasible amid the recent surge in active COVID-19 cases.

The university took to their social media handle to announce this. It said: “In a major relief to the students, it has been decided by MGCU to promote 1st and 2nd-year students, UG and PG of all streams to next academic year, as examinations are not feasible amid the upsurge of COVID-19 cases in the country.”

On April 4, the varsity had postponed the end-semester examinations. The end-semester exams of Mahatma Gandhi Central University were scheduled to be held from April 5. 

Meanwhile, several other Universities in the country have also postponed the exams. 

The Universities in Kerala have also postponed all the exams that were scheduled to begin from today owing to the rise in COVID-19 cases. Among those universities that postponed various exams include APJ Abdul Kalam Technical UniversityKerala UniversityCalicut UniversityMahatma Gandhi University, Kochi, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala University of Health Sciences, Malayalam University and Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University.

Bangalore University also has announced that it has postponed all the undergraduate and postgraduate semester exams in wake of rising COVID-19 cases in the state. The university has postponed the undergraduate final exams for the first semester and third-semester programmes and also has postponed the third and fifth-semester postgraduate programmes.
