In the wake of rising COVID-19 cases in the neighbouring states, Mangalore University of Karnataka has cancelled the exams of all its degree colleges, based on the directions of the Dakshina Kannada district administration.
In a communication, Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra KV of Dakshina Kannada ordered to cancel exams of all degree colleges affiliated to Mangalore University, to prevent the spread of the virus, till further order.
The Deputy Commissioner said, “A large number of students from Kerala have been pursuing degree courses in colleges of Dakshina Kannada district. The interstate travel restrictions in place at Kasaragod Dakshina Kannada borders will cause inconvenience to students and hence, the university has been directed to cancel all exams till further orders.”
Mangalore University is a public university in Mangaluru, Karnataka. The university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). It has 25 postgraduate departments on the campus, two constituent colleges, and four law, 13 education, five autonomous and 119 affiliated colleges/ institutions. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, postgraduate diploma and certificate programmes in various streams such as management, commerce, arts, science and technology.
Admission to Mangalore University is done on the basis of merit as well as an entrance examination for all PG and PhD courses, depending upon the choice of programmes The university also offers various scholarships on merit basis such as Scholarships for differently abled persons, Post-Metric Scholarships and Karnataka Labour Welfare Commission Scholarships.
