The list of specialties in which NIS offers PhD are Pothu Maruthuvam, Gunapadam, Sirappu Maruthuvam, Kuzhandai Maruthuvam, Noi Naadal and Nanju Maruthuvam.

National Institute of Siddha (NIS), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India; Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai-600 047, commenced the admission application process for its PhD Programme in 6 specialties, for the academic year 2020-21. The list of specialties in which NIS offers PhD are Pothu Maruthuvam, Gunapadam, Sirappu Maruthuvam, Kuzhandai Maruthuvam, Noi Naadal and Nanju Maruthuvam. Two students will be admitted to each specialization. The total duration of the PhD programme is three years.

Candidates are required to fill the Application form along with a demand draft of Rs 2,000/- for OBC and UR, Rs 1500/- for SC /ST to be paid by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘The Director, National Institute of Siddha’, payable at Chennai, should reach the Institute by Registered post / Speed Post /in Person latest by 5 pm on March 15, 2021.

NIS Admissions Eligibility

Candidates interested in NIS courses must note that the applicant must have a Post Graduate Degree in Siddha, in the concerned subject under Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970. The applicant must not exceed 32 years of age as on the last date of receipt of application. Age relaxation is applicable on SC/ST/OBC and women applicants as per central government norms.

NIS Admissions Selection Process

As a part of the selection process, NIS will conduct an entrance examination consisting of 100 Multiple Choice Questions from Research Methodology and Bio-Statistics (40 marks); Clinical trial management (20) and Concerned PG subjects (40). Candidates must note that the final selection will be based on merit in written examination with minimum qualifying marks of 55% for General and OBC candidates and 50% marks for SC/ST candidates followed by an interview.

A stipend of Rs 50,035/and Rs 51,990/- respectively will be given to the selected candidates for the first and second years. Applicable DA will also be paid. No stipend is admissible after 2 years. No Stipend /Salary is admissible for service candidates.
