Osmania University exams that were scheduled to be held from January 17 to 31 are also being postponed until further orders. Earlier, the state government had declared holidays for all educational institutions from January 8 to January 16.
In wake of rising COVID- 19 cases and its variant Omicron in Telangana, Osmania University has announced that it will remain closed until January 30 and will conduct classes in online mode. The state government had announced on Sunday that all educational institutions will remain closed on January 30, 2022.
Osmania University wrote on Twitter, "All the stakeholders of the University are hereby informed that the ongoing holidays (commenced on 8th January) has been extended till 30th January 2022. The arrangements for taking online classes have been made starting January 17."
As per the reports, Osmania University exams that were scheduled to be held from January 17 to 31 are also being postponed until further orders. Earlier, the state government had declared holidays for all educational institutions from January 8 to January 16. Following this, Osmania University was closed till January 16 first but after the Government's order, the closure was extended further.
Meanwhile, a state cabinet meeting was scheduled to be conducted today by CM K Chandrashekar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan for discussion about coronavirus and other issues.
Along with Telangana, several states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Tamil Nadu and others have also closed their schools and educational institutions to curb the increasing COVID-19 cases in the states and country.
On January 16, Telangana recorded 2,047 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths. Taking this into consideration, the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said to extend the holidays to all educational institutions--private, aided and government, except medical colleges till January 30.
