Professor Shambhu Nathi Singh appointed as VC of Tezpur University
Professor Shambhu Nath Singh has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University. Singh has been working with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) as a professor. His appointment has been made by the President of India and his tenure will last for the period of five years from the date on which he enters his office or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.

Singh will take over Dhruba Kumar Bhattacharyya who has been serving as an acting Vice-Chancelllor at Tezpur University. Singh has been visiting the professor to the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, International Media Institute Gurgaon, and senior professor Jagran Institute of Management and Mass Communication, Noida.
According to a statement on the IGNOU website, he is also the visitor's nominee to the Dr. Hari Singh Gaur University in Sagar, the Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad, and the Chancellor's nominee to the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith in Varanasi and the Lucknow University in Uttar Pradesh. He served as the chairperson of the Bihar Promotion and Appointments Draft Statute Committee. Being a member of the Board of Studies, Curriculum Committee, Budget Committee, and Selection Committees, Singh is also affiliated with a number of central and state universities, the statement continued.
