Colleges, Universities in Odisha reopened with full capacity for teaching, non-teaching staff

Teachers of colleges and universities have been instructed to take online classes of students from their respective institutes. All other notices and directives are superseded by this latest notice from the higher education department.

Odisha Universities, Colleges reopen with full strength for teaching, non-teaching staff

The colleges, Universities in Odisha have resumed functioning from February 1 onwards with 100 per cent strength. All the teaching and non-teaching staff have been directed to be physically present in their respective institutes. Odisha Higher Education Department has announced on its official website through an official notice.

The official notice released by the higher education department reads: “State Pu Universities and Degree Colleges coming under Higher Education Department will function with full strength of employees with effect from 01.02.2022 with strict COVID appropriate behaviour. The teaching faculties shall take online classes from their respective institutes. This instruction supersedes all previous instructions issued earlier in this matter by this Department.”

Teachers of colleges and universities have been instructed to take online classes of students from their respective institutes. All other notices and directives are superseded by this latest notice from the higher education department. 

It must be noted that earlier, the Universities and Colleges were allowed to function with 50 per cent capacity of teachers and staff based on the rostered duty. On January 10, the state government had closed all colleges, Universities and technical educational institutions except the medical colleges, nursing colleges due to the surge in COVID-19 cases . The government had asked teachers to take online classes. 

With decline in COVID and its variant Omicron cases in the state, the government has decided to reopen the campus for teaching and non-teaching staff. The state is also conducting vaccination programmes to curb the spread of infection. In view of dipping cases and vaccination, it can be speculated that the government can announce the schools, colleges, and universities reopening date soon.
