This type of remote learning is getting help from a number of tools that range from an increasing number of mobile apps to digital learning management systems and teamwork tools such as Microsoft Teams, Blackboard, and Zoom, among others.
According to Microsoft, Teams can offer an online classroom that brings together face-to-face connections, assignments, virtual, files and conversations in a single platform available on a PC, mobile device, tablet, or browser. According to Blackboard, its range of products and services back learners at every level all through the student lifecycle from kindergarten to the workplace. Apart from this, Zoom also has a number of services for educators, learners, as well as those working from home.
To promote remote learning during this phase, international communication solution provider Avaya Holdings Corp. declared that it would offer its Avaya Spaces teamwork software for free to educational institutions, including colleges and varsities along with non-profit institutes in India till August 2020. According to the company, Avaya Spaces provides the tools needed to deliver lectures and schoolwork safely and steadily over the web.
Apart from this, On March 11, ed-tech firm Byju's proclaimed that it would be offering free access to its wide-ranging app to school students till the culmination of April so that students can continue their learning even when schools are shut down. Students from class 1 to12 can download and access Byju's learning programmes for free until the end of April.
